The Montana School Counselor Association is a division of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and represents approximately 500 Montana professional school counselors. Montana has held its charter with ASCA since 1982.
The Montana School Counselor Association promotes professionalism and ethical practices while empowering and advocating for all school counselors.

Elizabeth Clark, New Board of Director
Meet Elizabeth Clark: School Counselor at Meadowlark Elementary, Bozeman
Elizabeth is originally from San Diego, California, but Montana quickly became home when she moved there for graduate school. She loves traveling, spending time with her family, and being near water—her go-to for relaxation and recharging. Elizabeth also has a passion for uncovering untold histories, focusing on stories that didn’t make it into mainstream narratives.
Path to School Counseling
Elizabeth’s journey to school counseling began with her love for education and helping others. When a family friend suggested the career, it felt like the perfect fit. Nine years later, she still finds joy in supporting students and collaborating with teachers and families to make a difference.
Favorite Part of the Job
Elizabeth loves celebrating the small wins that add up to big impacts. Whether it’s seeing a student succeed socially or learning that a behavior intervention is working, those moments remind her of the positive change her program creates every day.
Making a Lasting Impact
One of Elizabeth’s most memorable projects was “International Day” at Irving Elementary, where she previously worked. The event celebrated diversity through songs, dances, and travel-themed activities, leaving a lasting impression on students and staff.
Inspiration from Conferences
As a member of the MSCA conference planning committee, Elizabeth loves watching the months of preparation come to life. Seeing counselors connect, learn, and grow during the event inspires her every year.
Memorable Career Moment
A career highlight for Elizabeth was receiving the School Counselor of the Year award with her son in the audience. While she humbly avoided the spotlight, she was proud to show him what passion and hard work can achieve!
